Lokhandwala Oshiwara Citizen'S Association

This association is run out of B-6 on the first floor of the Swami Samarth Prasan CHS. We are right in the Lokhandwala Complex in Andheri West, specifically on Cross Road 3. Being in such a busy part of Mumbai means there is always something happening outside. The office is basically a converted flat in the housing society. It feels very much like a neighborhood spot because that’s exactly what it is. We deal with all sorts of local issues that the residents bring to us. There are always people coming in to talk about the roads, the water, or just general stuff about the area. The room is usually filled with the sound of fans whirring and people chatting. We have a big table where we sit around to discuss things. It’s not a corporate boardroom, just a place for neighbors to meet. The building itself is one of the older ones in the complex, so it has that lived-in feel. We don't have a big budget for fancy things, so we use what we have. Most of us who spend time here live close by. It’s a very hands-on kind of place. We try to stay on top of the paperwork but it’s a lot sometimes. If you’re walking around Lokhandwala, you’ve probably passed our building a dozen times. It’s a real part of the community here and we just want to help where we can without any fuss.
