Our office is on the 11th floor of the Express Zone building in Malad East. It’s right off the Western Express Highway, so the commute can be a bit of a nightmare with the Mumbai traffic. Being up on the 11th floor in A Wing, we have a view of the cars crawling along below us. The office is a mix of desks and samples. We deal with knitting and textiles, so there are always swatches and garments lying around. It feels a bit more like a modern workspace than a traditional mill, but it’s still pretty busy and cluttered. We have computers for the design work and the order tracking. The building has a lot of other businesses, so the elevators are always full of people. We spend a lot of our time on the phone or in meetings trying to figure out the next steps for our projects. Sometimes we stay late when there is a deadline, and the building gets quiet while the highway outside stays loud. It’s a convenient spot for being in Mumbai, even if the traffic is a pain. We have a small pantry where we keep the coffee and snacks. It’s a typical city office where we try to keep everything organized despite all the samples coming in and out. We’ve got some simple chairs and the AC hums all day. The shelves are full of various thread types.
