We are right across from the Kandivali station. If you know Gazdar Baug, you know how crowded it gets around here. It’s been our spot at number 27 for quite some time now. Every morning starts early, usually before the first trains really get going. We have to get the sweets ready and the bhelpuri ingredients chopped up. It’s a small space, so things get a bit tight when the evening rush starts. You can hear the trains and the announcements from the platform all day long. It's just part of the background noise for us. We don't have fancy decorations or anything like that. Just the counters and the food. I spend a lot of my time making sure the sugar syrup is right or that the sev is crunchy enough. It’s honest work. My hands are usually sticky by noon. People from the neighborhood stop in for a quick bite before heading home. We see the same faces every day, which is nice. Sometimes the rain leaks a little near the entrance during monsoon, but we just put a bucket there and keep going. It’s a local business, nothing more. We don’t do big ads. We just stay open and serve what we have. It’s a bit chaotic at times, especially on weekends, but that’s just how life is in Mumbai. We keep the glass cases wiped down, but they always get fingerprints on them within minutes. That’s just part of having a busy shop. We wouldn't want it any other way.
