Jagoo Nari Federation

We’re located in the Kanakia Paris building, specifically Wing B, room 1302. This is over in Bandra Kurla Complex, or BKC as everyone calls it, in Bandra East. It’s a very modern part of Mumbai, which is a bit different from where some of us grew up. The Jagoo Nari Federation is where we spend most of our waking hours. Even though the building looks quite fancy from the outside, our office is pretty down-to-earth. We have some posters on the walls and a lot of notebooks scattered around. We started this because we wanted to have a place where women could come together and figure things out. It isn't a high-pressure corporate environment. We have a kettle for tea and usually some biscuits if someone remembered to buy them on the way in. Sometimes it gets a bit loud when we are all talking at once, but that’s just how we work. Being in F Block means we see the glass buildings all around us, but inside our four walls, it’s just about people. We don't use big words or have complicated rules. We just listen and try to help. The commute to BKC can be a bit of a drag with the traffic, but once we’re here, it’s worth it. We are just a group of people trying to make things a little better for the women in our community. We don't have any big speeches. We just show up and do what needs to be done.
