Hopeful Hearts Foundation

Hopeful Hearts Foundation operates out of house number 104 on SV Road, right near the Irla Bridge in Mumbai. If you’ve ever been to this part of the city, you know how crazy the traffic gets under that bridge. It’s always noisy and there’s never any peace, but we like being in the middle of it all. Our office is a small space on the 58AS stretch. We started this because we saw so many people struggling in this part of Mumbai and thought we should do something. We aren't a big organization with lots of money. It’s mostly just us using our own resources and whatever help we can get from the neighbors. The room is often filled with boxes and old files because we don’t have much storage space. We spend our mornings drinking tea and planning out what needs to be done for the day. Sometimes we’re helping people with medical needs and other times it’s just giving advice on where to find local services. Mumbai life is fast, and it’s easy to get lost in it, so we try to be a place where people can just come and talk. It’s a bit cramped in the office when more than three people are there, but we make it work. We’ve been at this for a while now and we don't plan on stopping anytime soon.
