Global Helping Hands Foundation (Ghh)

Global Helping Hands Foundation, or Ghh as we call it, is based in Room No. 3 at Bhatkar Chawl. If you know the Pump House area near Jijamata Marg, you know how busy it gets. We are right there in Jhagada Pada. It’s a tight space, but it works for what we do. Andheri East is always moving, and we are right in the middle of that rush. The room is simple, mostly just some files and a table. We spend a lot of time talking to people who live nearby. Being in a chawl means everyone knows everyone, so there is no shortage of visitors or news. We don't have a big staff, just some folks who live around here. Sometimes the rains make the path a bit muddy, but that's just how it is during the monsoon. We keep our doors open for anyone who needs to chat or find some support. It's not a corporate setup at all. We use a lot of handwritten notes because it’s quicker than typing everything up. The neighborhood around Pump House is diverse and everyone is just trying to get by. We do our part in that daily cycle. It can be tiring, but we feel it's important to be physically present in the community rather than in some far-off office tower. We often have tea together in the afternoons to discuss what we heard from the neighbors that day. It's important for us to stay connected to the ground level of life here.
