We’ve been tucked away in Gala Number 9 at Vikas Industrial Estate for a while now. If you know Goregaon East, specifically the area off Aarey Road, you know it gets pretty busy around here. It’s mostly just us and a few other units in the Vishweshwar Nagar area working through piles of fabric every day. The space isn't huge, and we often have to move boxes around just to find a place to sit and have lunch. We make it work with the old sewing machines and the cutting tables squeezed in together. Most mornings start with a quick tea from the stall downstairs before the noise of the industrial estate really kicks in. It’s loud, sometimes a bit dusty, and the ceiling fans never seem to move the air fast enough when it’s hot outside. We spend most of our time just looking at patterns and making sure the stitching holds up. People around the estate know us as the ones who stay late when there’s a big load to finish. It’s not fancy work, just a lot of cutting and sewing and checking boxes. Sometimes the logistics of getting stuff in and out of the gala can be a headache because the roads get cramped, but we’ve figured out the timing over the years. We aren't some massive corporation; we just show up, do the tailoring, and handle the daily grind of the garment business right here in our corner of Mumbai.
