Dhiraj Singh Foundation

So, Dhiraj Singh Foundation is located over in Khar East. If you know the Dhobighat Pipe Line area, you probably know Popatlal Chawl. We are in Chawl Number 4. It’s a tight-knit spot. Everyone knows everyone else around here. We didn’t really plan on starting a big organization, it just kind of happened because there was a need in the neighborhood. Life in the chawl is busy and loud, and there’s always something going on. We work out of a small room there. It’s nothing like those offices you see in the big glass buildings across town. Sometimes the water pressure is bad or the lights flicker, but we make it work. Most of us grew up around Khar or have lived here for years. We know the families and the kids playing in the lanes. When someone is having a hard time, they know where to find us. We don't have a website with lots of photos or a social media person. We just have a door that stays open most of the day. People stop by after work or while they’re heading to the market. We talk about what’s going on in the community and see if there’s a way to help out with small things. It’s a modest setup, but it’s home for us. We just try to be good neighbors and keep things moving forward for the people living along the pipe line.
