Our workshop is located at Bhadramal Ruia Marg, right near the Ramba Office in Malad East. The specific address is C-19 in the Ruia Co-operative Housing Society on Rani Sati Road. We spend our days surrounded by industrial sewing machines of all kinds. It is a bit of a tight fit with all the heavy metal and spare parts lying around on the shelves. Malad is a crowded place, and Rani Sati Road is always busy with traffic and people going to work. Our shop has that smell of machine oil and metal that you get in places like this. We spend most of our time fixing things or showing people how a specific machine works. It is not a quiet job, as there is always some testing going on with the motors running. We have a few old benches where we do the repairs and some stools for when customers want to sit and talk about what they need. The floors are concrete and have some oil stains from over the years, but it is a working shop, not a showroom. We have been in this spot for a while and most of the local garment makers know to come to us when something breaks down. We just keep the machines running and try to stay on top of the repairs that come in every morning. It is a lot of manual work and our hands are usually covered in grease.
