About Chaturthi Animal Foundation – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in Mumbai Suburban
Chaturthi Animal Foundation is based in Chembur, inside the Mhada Project at Sahakar Nagar. Our specific spot is 10B/401 in the Hig Building No. 10-B. Living and working in a Mhada colony in Mumbai means you are always surrounded by people and, more importantly for us, a lot of stray animals. We started this foundation because the cats and dogs in this area often get overlooked when they are sick or hungry. Our space is small, and you will often find a couple of rescued kittens or a dog recovering in a corner. It gets a bit crowded and smells like medicine sometimes, but that is just how it is. We spend our evenings going around the local buildings, checking on the strays and making sure the residents aren't giving them a hard time. Chembur is a busy place, and the traffic near Sahakar Nagar can be a nightmare, but we managed to carve out this little corner for the animals. We aren't a big shelter with tons of cages and a full-time vet. We are just a few residents who decided to use our own time and a bit of our own money to look after the creatures that share our streets. It is messy and tiring work, but when you see a dog wagging its tail after being hurt, it feels like it was worth it.
