About Centre For Sustainable And Equitable Cities – Charity & Non Profit Organisations in Mumbai Suburban
We are tucked away on the second floor of the Unique Apartments building. It is right on S. V. Road in Irla, which is part of the Vile Parle West area. It is a bit of a climb up to room 201, but that is where all our work happens. We focus on cities and how they are built or how people live in them. Mumbai is a giant place, so there is always something to look at regarding how things are shared out or if things are sustainable for the future. We aren't a giant institution with hundreds of employees. It is just a small group of us in this flat. We spend a lot of our time looking at maps and talking to people about their neighborhoods. The traffic on S. V. Road can be really loud, but we have gotten used to the sound over the years. We have been in this Vile Parle spot for some time now. People come in to discuss urban issues with us, and we try to map out some practical ideas. It is honest work without any big speeches or anything like that. We just look at the city and try to understand the equity side of things. It is a bit of a squeeze in the office sometimes with all the papers and books piled up on the desks, but it works for us. That is our daily life here in the apartment.
