Buland Awaz Foundation

Buland Awaz Foundation is tucked away in Charkop, Kandivali. Specifically, we’re in Gandhi Nagar, in a spot known as Salfi Gali off Linking Road. You have to ask for Jannath Khan’s place to find us easily. It’s a bit of a squeeze getting through the lanes sometimes, especially if someone has parked a bike in the wrong spot. The area is always buzzing with energy. There are shops everywhere and people are always on the move. We work out of a small room here. It’s not fancy by any means. The walls have some marks on them and the furniture is old, but it’s where we get things done. We started this because we felt like there was a need for a local voice in this part of Kandivali. Most of our work involves just listening to the people in the Gali and seeing what’s bothering them. We don't have a big budget for decorations or fancy stationery. We use what we have and keep things moving. On hot days, the single fan we have works overtime, and we usually have a jug of water sitting on the table for anyone who stops by. It’s a very grounded way to work. We don’t pretend to be something we’re not. We’re just a group of people in Gandhi Nagar trying to make some noise about things that matter to us and our neighbors. It’s simple and it’s honest.
