Our office is up on the seventh floor of the Gardenia building in Santacruz East. It’s on CST Road, which is always moving. We started Artsy Homes because we knew the Kolekalayan area well and wanted to work with houses around here. Being on the seventh floor gives us a decent view of the neighborhood, though we spend most of our time looking at floor plans and paperwork. It’s a real estate business, so things can get pretty hectic when people are looking for flats. We try to keep it simple. We aren't a giant company with hundreds of employees, just a dedicated group of us trying to make sense of the Mumbai housing market. Sometimes the elevators in the building take a minute, but once you’re up here, it’s quiet enough to get things done. We handle a lot of the back-and-forth that comes with buying or renting a place in this city. It’s not always easy work, and there are plenty of long afternoons spent on the phone. We’ve been in this Santacruz spot for a bit, and we’ve gotten to know the local rhythms. People come by with questions about prices or just to see what’s available on the market. We just give them the facts we have. It’s a practical way to run things, and it seems to work out for everyone involved. We are just here most days, making sure the files are in order and the clients get their answers.
