Accha Karo Foundation

You can find us over at 1601 Sahyadri Towers, which is part of the Govind Nagar area in Malad East. It’s a pretty tall building and we are way up on the sixteenth floor. The view is alright, you can see a lot of the city from here. We started Accha Karo Foundation just to do some good things around the neighborhood. Malad is a crowded place, and there are always people who need a bit of help with one thing or another. We don't have a huge staff, just a couple of us who sit in the office and try to organize stuff. Sometimes the lift in the building takes forever, so we have to wait around a lot. We get a lot of phone calls during the day from people asking how they can participate or if we can help them out. We try to answer everyone, but it’s hard when you’re small. Our office is mostly just files and a few computers. We aren't trying to be some big, famous organization. We just want to do some work that matters right here in our own part of town. Most of the time, we are busy talking to locals or figuring out where the next bit of help is needed. It’s a bit chaotic sometimes, but that’s just how it goes in Mumbai. We stay late most nights just to keep up with the paperwork.
