If you know Mumbai, you know Dharavi. We are right there on the Main Road, near the Lazim Maidan area. Takoda Tea Llp is based in the Shastri Nagar part of the neighborhood, on the fifth floor of the C Wing in building C 505. It’s a crowded area, full of life and constant noise. You can hear the sounds of the street all day long up here. We work with tea, which is something everyone around here drinks constantly. Our office isn't big, and the climb up to the fifth floor can be a bit much when the lift isn't working right. We aren't a big fancy brand you see on billboards. We are just a small team trying to source tea leaves and get them to the local shops and homes. It’s a lot of tasting and talking to suppliers. Dharavi is a place where people work incredibly hard, and we try to match that energy. It’s not always pretty, and sometimes the logistics of moving sacks of tea through these narrow streets is a real challenge. We don't have a PR team or anyone to make us look more professional than we are. We’re just local people in a busy part of the city, doing our best with a product we really like. It is noisy and hectic, but it is our reality.
