Our spot is at Grit Residency, right in Govandi West. We are on the ground floor, unit A.02. It is pretty close to Shankara Colony and right off the Ghatkopar Mankhurd Link Road. The location is practical because it’s easy to get to, though the road can get pretty dusty with all the construction nearby. We do design work here. It is a lot of sketching and looking at different materials. The space is a bit messy because we always have threads and fabric swatches everywhere. We don't mind the clutter, it means we are working. We’ve been here for a bit now and the neighbors are used to us moving boxes in and out. It’s a small operation, mostly family and a couple of hired hands. We don't spend money on fancy decorations for the office. We’d rather spend it on better equipment. Sometimes the power cuts out for a minute, but we just wait it out. It’s a real place where real work happens. We handle everything from the initial idea to getting the final piece ready. We like the grit of this area, it keeps us grounded. There’s a tea stall around the corner where we usually take our breaks. It is just a simple business trying to do things right in Govandi. We just take it one day at a time.
