Indotex Export House Llp is right in the middle of the hustle and bustle of Mumbai. We are in Kapadia Chambers, which is a very old building on Jagannath Shankar Sheth Road. If you know Chira Bazar and Kalbadevi, you know how crowded these streets get. Our office is on the fourth floor, room 408. It’s a small space packed with files and samples. The elevator in this building is quite old and sometimes it’s faster to just take the stairs, even though it makes you catch your breath. Outside, there’s always the sound of traffic and people shouting. It’s a very traditional business area where everyone knows each other. We spend most of our day talking to vendors and checking on shipments. There’s nothing corporate about our setup. It’s just desks, chairs, and lots of paper. Sometimes the tea man comes around and that’s the highlight of the afternoon. Dealing with exports from a place like Kalbadevi means you have to be quick. We don’t have time for long meetings or mission statements. We just get the work done. The area is full of history, and you can see it in the walls of the chambers. It’s a bit messy and loud, but this is where we work. We’ve been here for years, through all the rains and the heat. It’s just how things are in this part of the city.
