If you know Matunga Bazar, you know how crowded Laxmi Narayan Lane gets. That is where we are, right in Baldota House on Plot 24/26. It is a lively area to work in, with all the smells of the market and the constant noise of people shopping nearby. Our office is tucked away here, and it’s where we do all the planning for our building projects. We aren't big on decorations; we mostly just have maps and site plans pinned up everywhere. Some days it is just us and the sound of the ceiling fan while we go through receipts and labor costs. Other days, it’s a total mess with contractors coming in and out, bringing dirt from the sites on their shoes. We try to keep things organized, but in this business, things change fast. You might find us staring at a screen for hours or shouting over the noise of the street to talk to someone on a mobile phone. We’ve grown used to the pace of Matunga. It’s a good place to be because everything we need is just a short walk away. We handle the local building work and try to stay on top of the regulations, which is a full-time job on its own. It’s just a group of us trying to make sure the work gets done right without too much fuss. We enjoy the local atmosphere and the people around us.
