Hardware Engg.

Out here in Ghumiara village, things move a bit slower than in the big cities like Ludhiana or Delhi. Hardware Engg. is located right here in the village area, which is part of Malout tehsil in Muktsar. It’s Punjab, so you obviously see a lot of green fields and tractors around every corner you turn. We’re mostly focused on the engineering side of things, like fixing parts or helping out with whatever local machinery needs a bit of work. The shop gets pretty dusty because of the dirt roads nearby, but that’s just how it is here. We don't have a fancy showroom with glass windows. It’s just a workshop with tools scattered around and the smell of grease and metal everywhere. People from the neighboring farms stop by whenever something breaks down on them. We know most of our customers by their first names. It’s not a corporate office with air conditioning; we usually just keep the big front doors wide open. The winter mornings are really cold and foggy, and we start the day with hot tea before we even think about picking up the wrenches. During the harvest time, we’re incredibly busy, sometimes staying open until late at night. Sometimes we just sit outside on the charpai and talk shop with whoever drops in for a bit. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in India, just a decent place for the folks in this district. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy.
