Pratap Clinic

Our little clinic is right in the middle of the Bhimpura Market. It is a small place, just two rooms really, but it serves the purpose for everyone living around Bhimpura. You can usually find me there from early morning until the sun goes down and the market shops start closing. The market gets quite loud on weekends when everyone comes in from the outlying areas to do their shopping, so there is always something to look at out the front window. We mostly see people for basic stuff like colds, stomach aches, or getting small cuts cleaned and bandaged. There is an old wooden bench outside where people sit and chat while they wait their turn. It’s nothing fancy at all. The floor is old tile and the ceiling fan makes a bit of a clicking sound when it’s on high, but it keeps us cool enough during the summer. I grew up not too far from here, so I know most of the families who walk through the door. We don't have a computer for appointments or anything like that; we just use a big paper ledger to write everything down in pen. It keeps things simple and easy to track. Sometimes people bring us fresh milk or vegetables from their gardens when they come for a checkup. It’s that kind of place. We just try to be helpful to the community here in the market. It’s a busy life but it feels good to be part of the village.
