Our place is at 45-2 on Terdal Road. It’s an industrial spot, so it’s usually pretty loud and a bit dusty. We deal with processing, so there’s always the hum of machinery in the background. It’s the kind of sound you stop hearing after a while, but visitors always notice it. The building is large and functional, built more for work than for looks. We’ve got trucks coming and going at all hours, pulling in off Terdal Road with heavy loads. It’s a lot of physical work, moving bags and checking the machines to make sure nothing is jammed. The air usually smells like grain or earth, depending on what we’re working on that day. We don’t have a fancy lobby with chairs; usually, if you come by, we’re out on the floor or in the small office area checking the numbers. It’s a straightforward business. We take what the farmers bring us and we get it ready for the next step. Sometimes things break down and we’re up late trying to get the parts back together. That’s just part of the industry. We’ve been in this spot for years, and the neighbors know us by the sound of the gates opening in the morning. It’s not glamorous, but it’s honest work that needs doing. We just keep our heads down and stay busy with the day’s tasks.
