General Store & Pashu Aahar Kendra

Working out here in Jhakhra village is different from the city. Our store is in Ward Number 01, not far from the post office in Govindganj. We are part of the Areraj Tehsil in Purba Champaran. It is mostly farming land around here, so we handle a lot of pashu aahar, which is animal feed. The farmers come in early in the morning before they go to the fields. They need things for their cows and buffaloes. We also keep general store items because people in the village need their daily supplies without traveling too far. The shop is a bit of a meeting point. People stand around and talk about the crops or the weather. It can get quite dusty because the roads are mostly dirt, and the heavy bags of feed create a lot of mess. We spend a lot of time sweeping. It is physical work, carrying those heavy sacks every day. My back usually aches by the evening. We don't have any fancy displays or bright lights. It is just a plain room with stuff stacked up. We know almost everyone who walks through the door by their first name. Their families have lived in Purba Champaran for generations, just like us. It is a quiet life for the most part, except when the supply truck arrives and we have to unload everything quickly. We just keep things moving as best as we can to help the local folks.
