Our place is located at No. 8-A National Highway, right across from Vardhman Vitrified near the Dhuva crossing in Lakaddhar. Being in this part of the country means you’re always surrounded by ceramics. At Sico Ceramic Private Limited, we deal with the clay and the kilns all day long. The dust is something you just learn to live with. Everything we own has a thin layer of white powder on it. It’s a heavy industry. We spend a lot of time moving pallets of tiles and checking the temperature of the ovens. It’s not the kind of work you do if you want to stay clean. We aren't a big, shiny corporation. We are just a group of people who know how to fire ceramic so it doesn't crack. The highway outside is always roaring with trucks carrying raw materials or finished goods. We often stand out by the gate to catch a breeze because it gets so hot near the kilns. People stop by all the time asking for directions or looking for specific batches. We don't have a receptionist; you just have to yell for someone to come out from the back. It’s a tough, honest job and we’ve been doing it at this same spot for quite a while now. We just focus on the heat of the bake and getting the orders out on time without any fuss.
