Vikash Sanitary Wares (violet)

Out on Old Ghuntu Road, near the old village of Ghuntu, is where we operate Vikash Sanitary Wares. This is specifically where we do the Violet line of products. The area is a bit more rural than the main highway spots, which is nice. We have a large plot, Plot No. 1 at Survey No. 588. We make things like washbasins and toilets. It’s different from making flat tiles because the shapes are more complex. We have to be careful with the molds. If a mold is old, the piece won't come out right. We spend a lot of time finishing the pieces by hand before they go into the kiln. It’s a messy process. There’s wet clay and water everywhere on the floor. We wear rubber boots most of the time. The office is just a small room at the front. We handle the local sales and the transport from there. Sometimes cows wander past the gate since we’re near the village. It’s a quiet kind of busy. We don't have any flashy advertisements. Most of our customers know us from being around for years. We just focus on making sure the pieces don't have any cracks or spots. It takes a long time to get a batch through the whole process. We just take it day by day and try to keep the production steady.
