We are located out on Matel Road, not too far from Amardham. Savitra Tiles is basically just a big shed with some machines and a lot of finished tiles stacked up. Morbi is a busy place for this kind of work, and our spot is no different. We wake up, check the clay supply, and get the kilns ready. There’s always a smell of burning fuel and wet earth in the air. The workers here come from nearby villages. We aren't some corporate office with suits; we mostly wear work shirts and boots. Sometimes the rain makes the road messy, and it’s hard for the trucks to get in. We deal with it. We don't talk much about "visions" or anything. We just talk about how many boxes we need to fill today. The office is just a desk and a couple of chairs. We handle the paperwork there, usually while someone is shouting over the noise of the press. We have had our ups and downs like any other small business. Some days are good, some days everything breaks. We just keep going. The tiles we make end up in houses all over, which is something to think about, I guess. Mostly we just care about making sure the count is right when we load the transport. It’s a simple life, just a lot of heavy lifting and keeping an eye on the temperature.
