Gandhi Grain Shop

You can find us over in Borvad, in the Juna Rao Pura area, not far from the Amdavadi Bazar. This part of town is quite old, and the streets can be a bit narrow and crowded, especially on market days. Our shop has been around for a long time, and you can see it in the way the wooden door frames have aged. We deal mostly in grains, and the smell of the shop is a mix of earthy pulses and dry wheat. There are always a few pigeons hanging around outside hoping for some spills, and we spend a lot of time shooing them away. We do not use any big machines here; it is mostly manual work, lifting the sacks and measuring out portions for the customers who bring their own containers. It is a bit dark inside the shop because the windows are small, but we like it that way because it keeps the heat out during the afternoons. I usually have a news station playing on the TV in the background while I work. We do not have a website or anything like that. If people want to see what we have, they just walk in and ask. It is just a plain, honest shop where we try to do right by the people who have been buying from us for years. The floor has some cracks, but it's part of the history.
