Modern Books & Gifts sits right across from Moran H S School in Moran Hat. Being in this part of Dibrugarh district means we see a lot of students every single day. When school lets out, the shop usually fills up with kids looking for pens, notebooks, or maybe a small gift for a friend’s birthday. We have been here for a while, and it’s a bit of a hub for the local neighborhood. The shop isn't very large, so we have to use every bit of space we have. There are shelves packed with school supplies on one side and then a mix of toys and small decorative items on the other. It gets a bit crowded during the exam seasons when everyone is rushing to get their supplies at the last minute. The street outside can be quite muddy when it rains, which happens a lot around here, so we’re always mopping the floor to keep it somewhat tidy. We don’t really do any big advertising; people just know we are here because of the school. It’s a family-run place, and we take turns behind the counter. Sometimes we have a chat with the parents waiting for their children. It’s a quiet life mostly, punctuated by the school bells and the bustle of Moran Hat. We like being part of the local routine and seeing the same faces grow up over the years.
