The sugar unit here at Rani Nangal is a massive operation. Being in the Thakurdhwara district, we are surrounded by fields, and during the crushing season, the whole place smells like molasses and sugar cane. It is a very busy time of year for us. There are trucks lined up for miles down the road sometimes, waiting to unload their harvest. We have been running this unit as part of Triveni for a long time. It isn't a clean, quiet office job. It is muddy, loud, and very physical work. Most of the people working here live in the nearby villages and have been with us for generations. We deal with the machinery, the boilers, and the processing of the cane every single day. When the season is off, we spend our time on maintenance, making sure everything is ready for the next year. It’s a bit isolated out here, so we have to be self-sufficient most of the time. If a machine breaks, we usually have to figure out how to fix it ourselves without waiting for help. We don't have fancy corporate meetings here; we just meet on the factory floor or in the small office building near the gate. It is hard, honest work that follows the rhythm of the crops. You won't find any glossy brochures in our hands, just logs of the day's production and the weights of the cane. It’s just how life is.
