About Bombay Dyeing – Architect, Interior & Structural Design in Moradabad
Most days here at Bombay Dyeing start with pulling up the shutters at New Khandelwal Emporium. It’s right near Town Hall, so there is always a lot of noise and people moving around outside. Inside the shop, we have shelves packed with bedsheets and towels. Sometimes the stacks get a bit messy when it’s busy, but we try to keep things organized so folks can find what they need. It is not a very fancy place, just a regular shop where we spend our time folding fabrics and helping people pick out colors that won't look bad in their spare bedrooms. We have been in this spot for a while now. The lighting isn't the brightest, but you can see the patterns well enough. When the sun hits the front window in the afternoon, it gets pretty warm in here. We usually have a fan going near the counter. My nephew helps out sometimes when he is not at school, mostly moving the heavy boxes that come in from the warehouse. People come in looking for gifts or just something new for their own beds. We don’t do anything too complicated. We just show the stock, count the change, and wrap things up in paper or bags. It’s a lot of standing around and talking to neighbors who pass by the Town Hall area. That is basically how things go for us every day of the week.
