Star World

Star World is tucked away in Lane No 6, at C-104 in Gandhi Nagar. If you know Gandhi Nagar, you know it’s one of the busiest places you can be. There are clothes and fabrics everywhere you look. Our shop is just one of many in the lane, but we’ve been here long enough that the neighbors all know our names. It’s a tight space, and we have to stack things pretty high to fit everything in. Sometimes it feels like the walls are closing in when we have a big delivery, but we manage to find a path through the stacks. We don't have a website or anything like that; we just do our business face-to-face or over the phone. The fans in the ceiling hum all day long to keep the air moving, though it still gets pretty warm. We aren't trying to impress anyone with a fancy showroom. Most of the time, the floor is covered in plastic wrap and cardboard boxes. It’s a practical environment for what we do. We start early in the morning before the lanes get too crowded to walk through, and we usually don’t leave until the last shutter on the street goes down. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting and moving stuff, but it’s what we know. We just take it one day at a time here in Lane 6. The tea stalls nearby keep us going when the energy gets low.
