Saleem Artistic Brass Products

Our workshop, Saleem Artistic Brass Products, is located in Kisrol. We are on Mohd. Ali Road, very close to the Hammam. It’s an old part of the city and it has a lot of character. We work with brass every day. It’s a family thing, passed down through a few generations now. The shop is usually filled with the sound of tapping hammers and the grinding of metal. It gets quite loud and the air always has that metallic smell to it. We don't have a big showroom with bright lights. Most of our finished pieces are just sitting on wooden shelves or in boxes waiting to be sent out. We make things that people use in their houses or for decoration. It’s all done by hand mostly. Mohd. Ali Road is always packed with people, so there’s a lot of energy outside our door. We don’t really do any fancy promotion. People just know we are here. Sometimes the power goes out and we have to work by the light from the street, but we don't mind much. We have a few old tools that have been around longer than I have. They still work better than the new ones sometimes. We just take it day by day and try to make things that look decent. It’s a small operation, just a few of us in the back doing the work. That is all there is to it, really.
