If you look across from the Imam Bara in Khokran, you’ll see our office. Omer Akbar & Co. has been operating out of this building for a long time. It’s a bit of an old-fashioned setup with heavy wooden desks and stacks of ledgers that we still use alongside the computer. The walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint, but we never seem to get around to it. We deal with a lot of paperwork and people coming in to discuss business matters. It can get pretty loud when the local festivals are happening outside, but we just shut the windows and keep going. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of employees. It's just a few of us making sure everything runs smoothly. We know most of our clients by their first names. They stop by, have some tea, and we talk about what needs doing. It’s a slow, steady kind of work. We don't use any high-tech marketing. We just rely on the fact that we've been in Khokran forever and people know we're reliable. Sometimes the phone rings off the hook, and other times it's quiet enough to hear the clock ticking in the hallway. We just keep showing up and doing the work. It’s a simple business, really, built on just being here and getting the job done every single day without any unnecessary fuss or fancy talk.
