Mougal Handicrafts

Mougal House sits on Peerzada Road, and it’s always a bit chaotic around here. If you’ve ever walked down this street, you know the sounds of the local market and the rickshaws constantly honking outside. Our building is old, with thick walls and narrow doorways that stay relatively cool even when the sun is beating down on the street. We do a lot of handicraft work inside, so you’ll see piles of wood, metal, and fabric tucked into almost every available corner. It’s not an organized showroom by any means. It’s a workshop through and through. There’s usually dust on the tables and the smell of polish or glue lingering in the rooms. We have a few long-time workers who have been sitting in the same spots for years, focusing on the small details of whatever they’re making. Sometimes we sit out on the steps for a bit of air when the indoor air gets too thick with the smell of the materials. We don't have a website that gets updated every day or a fancy sign out front. Most people find us because they know the name or they’ve been told where Mougal House is. We spend our afternoons packing things into wooden crates with plenty of straw and newspaper to keep them safe. It’s a slow process sometimes, but that’s just how we do things here on Peerzada Road. It’s a bit messy and loud, but it’s our space. We just try to get the orders ready for the next truck.
