Moradabad Metal Works

Moradabad Metal Works is located on Shidi Sarai Street, inside the Zahid Building. Finding our place is a bit like a maze if you aren't from around here. The street is narrow, and there’s always someone moving a trolley or shouting about a delivery. Inside our workshop, it’s usually quite hot because of the metalwork going on. We have these old benches where we spend hours hammering and shaping things. It’s noisy work, and our hands are usually covered in grease or soot by the time the afternoon rolls around. We’ve been in this building for years, and we know every creak in the floorboards. There isn't much in the way of decoration in our office area—just a couple of calendars from last year and a big stack of ledgers. We don't really do the whole professional corporate thing. We prefer to just focus on the metal and the orders we have to get out. Sometimes we stay late when a big shipment is due, and the whole street is quiet except for us. We drink a lot of chai to keep going. The Zahid Building is old and a bit grey, but it's sturdy and serves us well. We just keep our heads down, do our work, and hope the rain doesn't leak through the window frame like it did last monsoon. It's a tough trade but it's ours.
