You can find Jain Metal Industries over in Bartan Bazar, inside the Vidya Complex on Rajo Gali. Being in the metal market means it is always loud with the sound of clinking pots and pans or sheets of metal being moved around. Our shop is full of all sorts of metal goods, stacked from the floor almost to the ceiling. It is a bit of a maze inside, and only I really know where everything is hidden. My father ran this place before me, and he taught me how to tell the quality of a piece just by the weight and the sound it makes when you tap it. Rajo Gali is always crowded with shoppers and delivery carts, so it is a lively place to be every day. We do not have a lot of room for a desk, so I usually just stand near the front or sit on a small stool. The air smells like copper and steel, which is something you just get used to after a week of working here. We deal with a lot of regular customers who have been buying from our family for decades. We do not use any fancy sales talk. We just show what we have, tell them the price, and that is that. Sometimes we stay late to count the stock, especially after a busy festival season.
