Iqbal Brass Corp.

We are Iqbal Brass Corp. and we operate out of Peerzada, near the Masjid Chabootrey Wali. It’s an old part of town, so the streets are narrow and it can be a bit of a squeeze for deliveries. Our building has been in the family for a long time. It’s a modest place where we spend most of our hours. You can hear the sounds of the neighborhood all day—the prayers from the masjid, kids playing, and the general bustle of the market. Inside, it’s mostly about the brass. We have stacks of material and various tools scattered around the benches. It’s not a clinical environment. There’s a bit of dust and the smell of metal everywhere. We don’t have a big marketing department or anything like that. Usually, it’s just us answering the phone and talking to people who drop by. We’ve stayed in Peerzada because it’s home. The neighbors are all doing similar things, so there is a sense of community. We don’t have any fancy titles here. Everyone just helps out with whatever needs doing at the time. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we have to wait, but that’s just part of life here. We just keep doing what we know how to do, one day at a time, at our little shop near the masjid. That is how Iqbal Brass Corp. survives.
