India Rice Mill

India Rice Mill is located on the Sambhal Joya Road, specifically in the Nahar Thair area. If you look for the Masjid nearby, you will find us pretty easily. It is a quiet part of the district compared to the main city, but the mill itself keeps things noisy enough. We have been working out of this spot for a long time. The smell of raw rice is everywhere here. It is a big open space with high ceilings and the sound of the engines echoes off the walls all day long. During the peak times, there are trucks lined up all the way down the road. We spend most of our time out in the sun or in the warehouse, making sure everything is moving along. It is dusty work and by the end of the shift, everyone is covered in it. We do not have a formal office with air conditioning. We just have a small room with a wooden table and some chairs where we handle the paperwork. Sometimes the goats from the neighborhood wander into the yard and we have to shoo them out. It is a very local way of doing things. The call to prayer from the mosque helps us keep track of the time throughout the day. We are just a group of local people working hard to keep the mill running for the farmers.
