Dr Munawar Clinic

If you know where the Telephone Exchange is in Joya, then you know where Dr Munawar Clinic is. We are right nearby. It’s a simple place. We don’t have much in the way of big signs or flashing lights. People mostly know about us because they live in Joya and have been coming here for years. The clinic is basically a few rooms where the doctor sees whoever walks through the door. It gets dusty sometimes because of the road outside, so we are always cleaning the windows and the chairs. We handle all sorts of stuff here. Since we are near the exchange, it’s a central enough spot for folks to reach. We open up and stay as long as there are people waiting. There isn’t a fancy waiting system; you just come in and wait your turn. It’s a bit old-fashioned but it works for us. We know most of the people who come in, which makes the work feel a bit more personal. It isn't a high-tech facility, just a place where you can sit down and talk about what's wrong. We keep our own records and try to remember everyone's history. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just use the natural light from the door. That's life in Joya. We are just here to help out with the usual health problems that pop up in a small town. It’s been that way for a long time and we don't plan on changing much.
