Dara Industries

Bartan Bazar is always crowded, and Main Gali is probably the busiest part of it. Our shop, Dara Industries, is right there at number 41. It’s a lot of noise and people moving around all the time, which can be distracting when you’re trying to get work done. We’ve been in this spot for years, and the walls are stained with the kind of grime you only get from decades of industrial work. Most of the time, we’re just focusing on filling orders and making sure the machines are oiled. It’s a cramped space, honestly. We have to stack things high just to have room to walk around. Sometimes the tea man comes by and that’s the highlight of the afternoon. We don’t have a website that works right or any of that modern stuff. People mostly just know we’re here because they’ve been coming to this gali forever. The work is repetitive, day in and day out, but it pays the bills. We talk about the weather or the local news while we work. If a machine breaks down, the whole day is ruined, and we spend hours trying to find a spare part in the mess. It’s not a perfect system, but it’s ours. We just keep our heads down and keep going. When the shutters go down at night, we’re usually pretty tired, but we’ll be back again tomorrow morning.
