Danish Export Import

Dariba Pan is a crowded spot, and Rafatpura isn't much different. Working at Danish Export Import means navigating these narrow lanes every single day. It’s an old part of the city, so the buildings are close together and the wiring is a bit of a mess overhead. Our space is tucked away, filled with boxes and crates waiting to be moved. We deal with a lot of paperwork because of the nature of shipping things across borders. Sometimes the internet is slow, and we are just sitting there waiting for a form to upload while drinking tea from the stall downstairs. The guys who handle the loading have a tough job getting the carts through the crowds of people and scooters outside. It's loud, people are always shouting, and there’s a smell of spices and exhaust in the air. We don't have a shiny lobby or anything like that. It’s just desks, some old filing cabinets, and stacks of shipping manifests. We spend a lot of time on the phone checking where a container has reached or why a truck is stuck at the check post. It’s a lot of coordination and sometimes things don’t go as planned. We just try to get the day's tasks done before the sun goes down and the market gets even more packed with shoppers. Most of the time, the air is thick with the sound of merchants and buyers haggling.
