Amarnath & Sons

Our family business, Amarnath & Sons, is based at E-64, Pathar Wali Kothi on Gujrati Street. It is an old house that we have converted into our workspace. The name of the building translates to "Stone House," and it really is built solid. My father started things here, and now we carry it on ourselves. The rooms are filled with all sorts of things we have collected and sold over the years. It is not very modern inside. We still have old wooden furniture and the walls could probably use a fresh coat of paint. But it feels like home to us. Gujrati Street is a lively place, and there is always something going on outside our windows. We have a lot of regular customers who have been coming to us for decades. They know they can just drop by for a chat and a cup of tea even if they do not need to buy anything that day. We handle our business in a very traditional way. We do not have a lot of complicated systems or computers. We just write things down and make sure we keep our word. Sometimes the storage gets a bit cramped, and we have to spend a weekend clearing things out to make room for new stock. It is hard work, but we enjoy being our own bosses. We are not looking to expand into a giant company. We just want to keep the family name going and serve our neighbors. (258 words)
