Dudhsagar Plantation

Our place is located over in Margamal, which is part of the Karmane area. It is a piece of land where we grow all sorts of things, mostly focusing on the trees and crops that do well in this soil. It’s been our family’s project for years. We aren't a big corporation, just folks who like being outside and working with the earth. When you walk around the plantation, you’ll see pepper vines climbing up the trees and maybe some cashew or coconut depending on where you stand. It is a lot of walking and manual labor to keep it all going. We spend most of our mornings checking on the irrigation or seeing what needs pruning. It isn't always pretty, especially when the weeds start taking over after a heavy rain, but we do our best to manage it. Sometimes people drop by to see how a plantation actually works, and we just show them around. We don't have a glossy brochure or a scripted tour. If you come by, you might see us covered in mud or busy fixing a fence. It’s a quiet life for the most part, away from the busy coastal areas that most people think of when they talk about Goa. We like the peace we have here in Margamal. It’s a lot of responsibility to look after this much land, but it’s what we know how to do and we feel lucky to be out here in nature.
