My name is here at Sidhu Boutique and we have been working out of No. 4296 in Sector- 68 for quite some time. It is a small space but it fits what we need to do every day. Most mornings start with me opening up the shutters and dusting off the counters. Sector- 68 can get pretty busy around midday with people walking by and cars looking for parking. Inside the shop, there are usually piles of fabric sitting on the tables and threads of all different colors tucked away in the drawers. We spend a lot of our hours just sitting at the machines or measuring out lengths of cloth for whoever comes through the door. It is not a fancy place, just a regular shop where the iron is almost always hot and the scissors are usually somewhere under a pile of scraps. Sometimes the lights flicker a bit when the weather gets bad outside, but we just keep going with the work. People from the neighborhood know where to find us because we have been in this same spot for a while. It’s a lot of repetitive work, cutting and pinning things together, but it fills the day. I usually keep a radio playing in the corner to drown out the noise of the traffic from the main road. By the time evening rolls around, the floor is covered in small bits of thread and we have to sweep it all up before heading home.
