N K Kumar Artist

The studio for N K Kumar Artist is at Shop Number-1 on Iandra Road right near the Gurudwara. We are also close to Saini Baag in Sector-77 which is a nice part of the area. Being an artist means there is always a bit of a mess with paints and canvases lying around. The smell of oil paint and turpentine is pretty strong when you walk in. I spend a lot of my day just sitting by the front window where the light is better. You can hear the prayers from the Gurudwara in the mornings and it’s actually quite peaceful. People often stop and look through the window when they see me working on something. The shop isn’t very big so I have to be careful not to knock over any of the finished pieces. The floor has some permanent paint stains that I gave up trying to clean a long time ago. I’ve got an old wooden stool that’s seen better days but it’s comfortable enough. Sector-77 is developing fast but our little corner feels a bit more traditional. I usually have a cup of tea while waiting for the paint to dry. It’s a slow kind of life but I enjoy the process of creating things every day. There isn’t a computer in sight just pencils and brushes. It is just me here most of the time.
