Farid Engg Works

Out here in Vill Kuranawala, things are a bit quieter than the main city, but Farid Engg Works stays busy enough. We are right on Barwala Road, just across from where they keep all the Virgo Ply wood. It’s a good landmark because people sometimes get lost looking for us in Derabassi. Our workshop is basically a big shed where we handle all sorts of mechanical stuff. There is no air conditioning, so we rely on the big fans and the breeze coming through the door. You’ll see plenty of iron rods and heavy plates stacked up near the entrance. We started doing this because there was a need for a reliable shop in the village area. Most mornings start with a quick cleanup of the previous day’s mess, though the metal shavings always seem to find their way back. We don't have a receptionist or a fancy waiting room. If you come by, you’ll probably find us hunched over a machine or talking loudly over the sound of a drill. We use simple tools and traditional methods because that is what we learned and it works. Sometimes the neighbors come by to borrow a wrench or just to chat while we work. It is a very basic setup, but we manage to get everything done on time. We don’t think much about being the biggest shop, just about finishing the pile of work on the bench.
