Cepham Milk Specialities Ltd.

You have to drive out about 6 kilometers on the Dera Bassibarwala Road to find us. We are located near the village of Bhagwas in the Patiala district. It’s a bit of a trek from the main city, but that’s where the space is. Cepham Milk Specialities is essentially a big processing plant surrounded by fields. The road can be quite dusty, especially when the big milk tankers are moving in and out all day long. We start our shifts early because the milk arrives fresh from the nearby farms and it has to be handled right away. The building is large and loud, with the sound of steam and cooling units running constantly. We spend a lot of time in our boots, walking across the wet floors and checking the machinery. It’s not a glamorous job. There’s a lot of cleaning involved to keep everything up to the right standards. The staff mostly comes from the surrounding villages, so there’s a lot of local talk during the breaks. We don’t have a fancy lobby or anything like that. If you come by, you’ll probably see someone in overalls directing a truck or checking a batch of milk powder. It’s a lot of heavy lifting and keeping an eye on the gauges. The sun gets really hot out here, but we just keep the fans going. By the time the sun goes down, we’re all pretty tired and ready to head home.
