About Ankita Fibre Glass Works – Automobile in Mohali
Down in Industrial Area Phase-9, at Plot No. 473, is where we set up Ankita Fibre Glass Works. Working with fiberglass is a messy job, there is no way around that. You end up with white dust on your clothes and that sticky resin smell that never quite leaves your nose. The plot is large enough for us to lay out the molds and let things dry properly. It is an industrial zone, so it is mostly trucks and heavy machinery moving around all day. We have a small crew here. Most of us have been doing this for years, so we know the quirks of the material. Sometimes the heat makes the resin set too fast, so we have to watch the clock carefully. It is not the kind of place where you want to wear nice shoes. We have piles of offcuts and rolls of glass matting stacked up against the walls. People come by with all sorts of requests, from small repairs to bigger parts they can't find anywhere else. We just take the measurements and see what can be done. It is practical work and we try to get it right the first time. The shed gets hot in the afternoon sun, but we keep the fans going. It is just a regular day of cutting, layering, and sanding down in Phase-9.
