Setting up shop in Jagraon has been our thing for a long time. It’s a straightforward watch shop where we don’t put on any airs. When you walk in, you’ll see some display cases with various watches, but the real work happens at the small desk in the back. That’s where the tweezers and the tiny screwdrivers live. We see a lot of people from the town who have had the same watch for twenty years and just want to keep it going. There is a lot of history in some of those pieces. We handle everything from replacing a broken pin to cleaning out the inside of a mechanical movement that’s gotten gummed up with dirt. Jagraon is the kind of place where word of mouth matters more than any sign. If you do a decent job, people come back. We don’t have a huge inventory of the latest gadgets; we mostly stick to what we know. The shop is small and can get a bit cluttered with boxes and spare parts. Sometimes we spend more time talking to the neighbors who drop by for a chat than actually working. It’s just the way it goes here. We open up in the morning, sweep the floor, and wait to see what kind of broken watch comes through the door next. It’s a quiet life, but it suits us just fine.
