Enn Gee Bricks

Enn Gee Bricks is out in Bughipura, near Budh Singh Wala. We’re about 65 km from the border, so it’s a bit of a drive for anyone coming from the city. The landscape out here is mostly open fields, which gives us plenty of room for the kiln and the drying areas. It’s a quiet place for the most part, except when the trucks are pulling in. We live and work right here. The wind blows pretty hard across the plains, and it carries the smell of the earth everywhere. We started this because there was a need for bricks in the surrounding villages. Every morning, the fire gets stoked, and the work begins. It’s a long process, waiting for the bricks to be ready, but we’ve got a rhythm down now. We don't have many neighbors, so we mostly just stick to ourselves and get the job done. The road out here isn't the smoothest, but it gets us where we need to go. Sometimes we get visitors looking for a specific type of brick for a farmhouse or a repair job. We show them what we have piled up. It’s a lot of physical labor, and our hands are always stained with red dust. By the end of the day, everyone is tired, but the stacks are a little higher or a little lower than they were in the morning. That is just how the cycle goes out here.
