Sikhera Road Industrial Area is a loud place to spend your day. Here at Dev Industries Modi Nagar, we’ve gotten used to the constant rumble of heavy trucks moving in and out of the gates. It’s not exactly a quiet spot for a nap, but it’s where the work happens. Our unit is tucked back a bit from the main road, but you can still hear the traffic. The walls are a dull gray, and the floor has those permanent oil stains that never really come out no matter how much you scrub. We don't mind it though. It shows we’ve been busy. Most of the guys here have been working together for a long time, so we don't need to say much to get things done. We have a small area in the back with a wonky table where we eat our lunch. Sometimes the power goes out in the whole block, and we all just end up standing outside by the gate, waiting for the grid to kick back in. It gives us a chance to chat with the workers from the next unit over. We aren't trying to be the biggest industry in Modi Nagar. We just want to finish the day's tasks and head home to our families. There’s no fancy lobby or a receptionist to greet you. You just walk in and look for someone who isn't too busy. It’s just how it is on Sikhera Road.
